Of days long past, a tale of blood and tears,

When Greece was bound by Ottoman Empire's chain,

Her people yearned for freedom, hopes and fears,

Their spirit broken, living life in vain.

Amidst this gloom, a fire was lit anew,

A spark of hope, that grew into a flame,

And soon a war of independence drew,

To break the shackles, and reclaim their name.

From mountains high, the rebels came forthright,

With swords in hand, they fought with all their might,

Their courage, a beacon, shining bright,

A long and bitter struggle, but a fight,

That would forever shape the course of history,

And bring to Greece, her long-lost liberty.
