Masters of the Fiddle perform in Tampa

Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, who together are known as Masters of the Fiddle, had to cancel their April show at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall is Sarasota. But their show this weekend in Tampa is still going ahead as scheduled.

They'll be at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts on Friday.

Back in September, MacMaster and Leahy, who are married, announced that MacMaster is pregnant. So a mid-April concert wasn't feasible, but they apparently feel up to an early-February show.

MacMaster and Leahy and two of the most celebrated fiddle players in the world. Besides their virtuosity, what they're most noted for is their ability to play and blend a variety of fiddle styles, from Celtic to Cajun, and from American bluegrass to traditional French. Their concerts move from heart-rending ballads to foot-stomping rave-ups.

They have five children already, who often join them on stage. All but the youngest one are, according to reviews, decent fiddlers, and really cute.

One reviewer recently noted how impeccably MacMaster could sing, play and dance all at the same time, while she's pregnant.
